first time breeding

When we got Reyna Dec '05 as a 3 yr old, she had been accidentally bred when the stallion escaped his corral while the owners were away. Had Vegas as a 4 yr old.

Vegas will be our brood mare within the next few yrs so I'm wondering at what age do you start breeding a young horse?

I'd wait til 4 or 5-get some good riding on her, let her body fully mature as well as her mind.

I have a 7yo who has spent the past 4 years in training and showing proving her self worthy of being a broodmare. Even with her breeding and the fact her full brother has earned over $45K in NRHA in my mind she still had to prove herself. She was bred this year.
