Baby Watch!! What do you think???**pics added

We purchased her in March and were told that she should foal in Sept. Over the last two weeks she has really bagged up, and the baby has really seemed to drop, moms back bone seems to be protruding a lot more and you can feel some ribs. Don't know if that is normal...I am assuming that it is because she typically is a HOSS. Maybe the baby is pulling her down?? I have been giving her alfalpha and reg. ration of grain...should I add beet pulp as well?? Maybe this is the way they all look at this stage, but all my other criters are overweight gluttons and well, you know...she just doesn't look the same. This is our first baby. I will run out and take some pictures real quick and see if you can tell. On Friday she was milking a little....and does seem to be protruding a little more than she was from a couple of days ago....

It sounds like she is getting close. You might want to up her feed a bit.

For the photo's you will need a photo hosting account like photobucket.

When they right about to foal there muscles get REALLY relaxed and they can look almost stared in some situations. If she is nice and pump before baby she will get it back after the baby is born!!!

Pictures will help though.

Aww what a cute little donkey. I can't wait to see pictures of the baby.

She looks like she's getting close!

She has been out on the grass some, will that hurt her? Or is it ok for them to graze?? i have just been giving her hay, alfalpha and grain. Was told not to let them eat grass the last month or so....

When i say out some, meaning when the she-devil mini horse breaks the fence she is more than happy to follow....

We had a guy to come out and take a look at her and said that she hasn't waxed over yet and that she will get even more droopy than what she is at this point. He said that she should be ready in another 2 weeks, but that not to be suprised because he has had some to go looking like her and having within a day or so...We are really hoping for sooner rather than later...i am just too excited!!! I feel like a 5 year old waiting for christmas that will never arrive!!!!!!!!!

It is ok for her to graze as normal so long as the grass is not Fescue. If your grass is Fescue grass please keep her off it. Fescue grass can cause her to not milk properly, have a red bag delivery and other problems.

It was hard to tell in the photos, they were too small for my poor eyes. But from what I could tell you have a little longer to wait. Aren't donkey's just the cutest!
