How can he be registered?

My Clydesdale/QH colt is turning out to be a wonderful little boy! We are just wondering what all registries he could be registered under? We know the AHQHA but what else?

Here are some recent pics of him!

Pretty foal!

as for registries, I think these ones he can get into:

American Warmblood Registry[draft X light breed of horse] are acceptable.
United States Dressage Foundation
Half Quarter Horse Registry[HQHR]

oh, also, DCBOA[Draft Cross Breeders & Owners Association] http://www.draftcrossbreedersandowners.com/index.html

and American Draft Cross Registry http://www.geocities.com/American_Draft_Cross_Registry/

The AWR will NOT accept draft crosses. You MAY be able to get away with 1/4 or less draft but certainly not 1/2.

Sometimes you can get away with draft crosses if the mare is unregistered and the foal doesn't look drafty...you list the mare as "grade" and bring the foal to inspection. This is a less-than-totally-honest approach.

Very cute foal, just curious as to why you want to bother with registration? None of the warmblood/draft cross registries really have shows, they can make a foal a little bit more marketable, but they can also work against you. Some people are immediately turned off by "AWS" titles or Sport Horse ones.

Sport Horse competition is a lot different than stock horse competition; the registration/papers are meaningless if the animal moves and performs. Unless it is one of the big-time verbands, you're better off just proving the horse in competition rather than getting obscure registries to take it. Just my take, papers can help in the event of theft or provide a good paper trail for sales transactions, but while papers immediately increase the value of a stock horse, they don't do the same for a sport horse cross.

I guess I did not realize registering him could hurt anything. We don't usually have mixed breeds horses other than quarter, paints and arabs, so I was not sure what all I could do with this guy. We do not plan on showing him unless it is very small and local. He is just going to be my husband's trail horse as of now, but if he gets sold I was not sure what to tell people he can be registered as.

AWR will not take him.. but American Warmblood Society will! I had a Belgian/QH cross registered with them.
