Question for GBAR (photo heavy)

Hi, I am starting to think about next spring (2009). I really would like to breed my mare before she gets much older (she is 13 now). The resulting baby would be for me to keep mostly for trail riding. I really like Jazz's personality and she isn't to bad on the eyes either. I really like your new stallion and want your opinion if you think this would be a good cross. I do not have any really good confirmation shots but I will pick out a few that I think would give you an idea of her build. I am also linking her pedigree to. By the way she is HYPP N/N.
Here is her pedigree... www.allbreedpedigree.com/modern+dreamer

And a few photo's

Sorry for so many pics but wanted you to have a good idea of what she looks like.
By the way, what color do you think they might produce? Her dam is sorrel and her sire is pali.
Anyone else want to give their opinion please do!
Thanks in advance.

Well I will throw my 2 cents in. You have a nice looking mare, she is well built and athletic looking and she should cross well with Kaycee. This is JMO.
I think Kaycee is homo dun from what I remember so you would get either dun, red dun or grulla.

RacerMom, How tall is your mare? Byt he way, she is a beautiful girl, with a nice head and neck abd over all build and bone. Very nice... Heck of a pedigree too. Nice Halter champs, with some speed added. Breed her to Kaycee and you throw Reinging and roping champs int here too. I think she would cross well on Kaycee. I have a Kaycee baby myself, very smart line backed dun she is...

What are you wanting to accomplish for the up and coming foal? What will breeding her to Kaycee add thatyour mare lacks for the foal? Nice nice mare.

Cameo, she is 15.1 hands. As far as future of upcoming foal...mostly trail riding. Maybe some local shows as a youngster for halter. As the foal gets older and has some saddle time if he/she has some speed I might play around with the barrels. Of course that would be at local shows and fun shows.

Thanks everyone for the compliments on her. It is funny that I did not want a sorrel horse when I bought her. She was bought for the purpose of an extra horse. My friend talked me into going to see her (about 3 years ago) because I was looking for a well broke , beginner friendly horse. The guy offered for me to take her for a few days and try her out and have her vet checked. If I liked her pay him if not just return her. Needless to say she is still here!

Thanks Again

I like her.. she has a lot of bone, a pretty head, and a big hip..

Kaycee has thrown nothing but duns.. he has produced red duns off of sorrels in the past.. never thrown a solid red horse yet..

He is pretty foundation bred, and she is has some great lines to cross on him.. - Dexter is the sire of Cutter Bill, Leo, Impressive, Triple Chick and Chicado V, eternal sun for running.. You could end up with a heck of a barrel or roping horse.. about 15.1 with a beautiful head, big hip, good mind, and the ability to do anything you want...

Just let us know.. Kaycee loves the ladies.. and he would adore her..

I think Kaycee may do quite well with her. The main things Id like to see improved on her is her neck and her hip. Kaycee has both of those and from what Ive seen gives it to his foals too. So I say go for it!
