Next cycle after foal heat

How long after a foal heat does a a mare cycle again?

We bought a mare already bred and she was pasture bred on her foal heat. She foaled at the end of last January. This foal should have been born if that was correct so I am trying to calculate a new due date. When would the next cycle have been?

She can't be far off, she is bagged up and her butt's like jello. I am just tired of thinking, "maybe this is the day!"

Thanks everyone.

If she was pastured bred, it could be the last month she was left with the stallion.

Ok, let me think, I do beleive its 21 days.
There are so many "animal cycles" I keep up with.
If not correct, some one correct me on this.

She can bag up for weeks before foaling. You can calculate to dooms day and will still be off because you dont know exactly when she was bred.

Its now waiting and before you know it, the foal will be here and allready up sucking.

Much luck to you and a healthy foal.

I was right, 21 days.

Heres a link that explaines it.

You have no choice - have to stay up with her every night now...

If she foaled near the end of January and didn't take on her foal heat, she should be "due" between next weekend and the end of the month. Sometimes they fool us by a week either way, though...stock up on No-Doz and pray for warm weather...

I kind of gave up on getting to see it. I've been expecting it for weeks.

I have had 3 dreams :sleepy1: of a little palomino foal. In one dream it was a colt and in two she had a filly. Every morning when I wake up, I look out the window and really think I am going to see a little baby out there but, nope. Nothing!

My hubby works offshore and just left out last Thursday. He'll be gone for a week and a half. I hope she waits until he comes back home. He wants to see it so bad.

As for the weather, it has been nice here the last couple of weeks but now, it's downright nasty.

Well, I'm done whining. Thanks for the help everybody. At least now I know a little more than I did before. I'll let everyone know when we have a foal.

Good luck and with it being nasty, thats when they usually will foal.
So, set your clock and check on her.
Prayers for a nice healthy foal.

By all means check on her regularly...chilly wet weather can seriously jeopardize a newborns health!
