What do you think? PIC HEAVY

When I first posted about Stella and Lena, I asked you guys what you thought Lena was. Most of us all agreed that she was most likely a QH/Arabian Cross. Well since then, I have tracked her old owner down and he claims that she is 100% Thoroughbred...I don't see it. I was hoping someone could enlighten me . Standing next to Stella who is for sure a TB she looks NOTHING like Stella...Anyone see TB or have any other guesses?

I can deffinatly say that that is a tb. I dont see the Arabian in her/him. The horse has a lil QH in it. So possibly a appendix.

I'm in agreement with the above. The closest thing that comes to being arabian is her color. She definitely has those TB withers.

Thanks everyone! I guess to me she just looks completely different from Stella. For a while my vet and I were convinced she was a QH, but I guess not!

Its just so wierd because Lena is small and stocky, Stella tall and lean, Lena is incredibly easy to keep weight on, Stella is incredibly hard, Stella has a cute little head, Lena doesn't...they are exact opposites in everyway!

But you guys know a heck of a lot more than me! (obviously )

Horselady- Stella is 6 years and Lena is 7 years. So they are pretty dang close in age.

She does not have a tattoo, I checked right away.

And yes, I love grays also. As soon as I was told I could have her for free, I was all in!

divinemisselle has two TB mares with big ol' butts like Lena's (and I know hers are 100%). Very possible Lena is TB, I can see it.

Definately looks TB to me,especially pic 3. A lot of folks get confused by TBs cause they are so used to seeing the track horses. You have to remember those are not the average TB. However, I have to disagree with folks not seeing Arab in her, pic 5 shows a very Arab head profile. Especially since TBs came from Arabs, but that's JMO.

Looks TB to me, too. Lily's got the bigger butt, too and I know she's TB. I can definitly see the TB in Lena in her withers, head, and neck. Very pretty girl, by the way, and I like her name, too.

She looks like she could be TB to me too. Not all of them are bred for racing . She's very pretty and to me has the TB face, withers...etc. I like her.

Of course, she could be a cross, but if someone said she was TB, I wouldn't argue.

Some people mistake my paint for a 1/2 arab...I'm sure she's got arab back there somewhere, but she's PB paint.

QH looking OTTB

I have a 6 year old OTTB who looks so incredibly QH-like that I have to carry around his win pictures to convince people that he's really a thoroughbred!!!

Here's a picture:

and one more for good measure:

But, isn't that kind of the great thing about Thoroughbreds - there is so much diversity in the look of the breed!!!

chalsall---wow I thought qh immediately, except for the withers.

I can see tb and qh in her. But yeah, my trainers have a little stocky tb that looks like a qh that supposedly raced as well. Both girls are very pretty! Unless I'm remembering inccorectly, weren't you considering selling one of them?

Yes, I contemplated it for a while because Stella was so wound up. I was scared that she was maybe turning into to much horse for me. But thanks to you fellow HTers, I discovered that it was her grain and she was getting to much energy from it. I have since then redone her diet (she gets a lot of hay now) and she has done SO much better. Now our problem is the exact opposite, she doesn't want to go! I'm very thankful for everyone's help because I didn't want to sell my girl! She is just what I wanted when I started looking a year ago.

Well I guess it's official, Lena is a Thoroughbred! Thanks for all the compliments also. I am very happy with her. And I know this sounds stupid, but like I have admitted to before, I am new to the world of TB's and didn't realize that they were so diverse!

Chalsall- That is pretty amazing. He looks QH to me all the way! (except for those withers...)
