Has anyone heard of the American Indian Horse??

Hey everyone,
So, last week I took Tilly to the vet for a scratched eye...the vet(along with everyone else that asks about her breed) has never heard of her breed...Shes a American Indian Horse/QH. So, I thought today I would ask you all if you have ever heard of the American Indian Horse. They have their own registery and its what Tilly is registered under. Ive had her for 11 years she was my first horse! If anyone has one...or even a horse who is part AMI please post pictures...as I have never seen another one Here are a few pictures of Tilly...

I've never heard of the American Indian Horse, as a breed...but I love the little double arrowhead star she has!

Isn't this the Tilly that does all the wonderful tricks? Whatever breed she comes from, she is one smart little cookie...you have done a wonderful job training her!

I've heard the term... but never really looked into the breed.

I do know the feeling of people looking weird when you give a breed, though.
Berry's mother is a Florida Cracker Horse (Berry's sire is a reg'd QH).

Yes this is 'Tilly The Trick Horse' She is a very smart girl. Thanks for the complement. I have put alot into her training Heres a link to the video for those who may not have seen it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QxQwkoCc2OY

I would love to meet someone who has a American Indian Horse to compair her too. She kindof has the QH butt I think. But she is def a cross! Shes only 14.1 I love her to death though and would never sell her. She has quite the personality as you can sorta tell in the video If I answer a phone call or ignore her for a minute she will go and occupy herself by 'practicing' her tricks Its very funny and cute

Here is a link to their webpage with requirements for what makes an American Indian horse. http://www.indianhorse.com/about-the...-indian-horse/

Basically the way I read it you can compare her to any AQHA, ApHC, APHA, or Mustang, that is NOT a giant halter horse, or a tall lanky HUS horse. Sounds like all the horses we have could qualify. If I lived closer to TX where they are headquartered and host events. They look like a very nice group of people without the political stuff that seems to go on in the bigger breeds. Sounds like a wonderful show to attend.

Here are some photos of my mare
This was her as a three year old

This was when I took her to State Fair that year (I was the one that trained her)

This was her spring of 07 when she was in foal

This was her and the filly spring 09. The filly is now the same height as mom, and she isn't even 17 months old yet.

When I lived in Arizona, I had a few American Indian Horses. But I did live on the Navajo Reservation, so they were abundant. There is 5 bands on the Navajo Reservation of pure mustangs of Spanish descent...not the Spanish mustang, but an American Indian Horse.

Your mare looks like she got the more arab side of the breed, they range from Spanish Barb/Arab looking horses to thicker foundation QH looking horses.

My mare Snowflake and her colt Cloud were my first AIH pair. She was a really great little trail horse, I got her preggo (didn't plan on that baby!) and then she turned into the momma mare who would adopt everyone elses baby.

The other mare that we bought bred, from the same guy, was a pretty little sorrel mare named Spirit. She had her little foal Freckles that turned out to be my favorite baby ever - smart as a whip like her momma.

Your horse is so cute!! Great job on the tricks too. Would the breed be kind of like POAs? Apps are known as a native american breed as well.

Oh its good to know Im not alone in the world
Very pretty horses Harmonyhill I love Blaise!
I taught Tilly to fetch by first teaching her to pick up objects. Then I taught her to hand them to me, I then would progressively toss the object alil further each time and then would pull her head towards me with the leadrope telling her to bring it....and evenually I was able to throw it as far as it would go...a glove dosnt go very far though

WOW! You make it sound so EASY!

I'm going to have to give it a try, but I am not very hopeful! I think you just have a super smart horse!
