It certainly has been a long ordeal for you. It's all the worse because there is no exact breeding date on hand so everyone is just guesstimating due dates. I hope it is merely a case of underestimating her gestation timeline and that everything goes well when she finally is ready to go.

Poor Muttduck... I really feel for you. Hopefully you won't have to wait too much longer.

Another night, and no baby. She spent most of the night eating hay. Only stopped to sleep on one of the checks.

Found out this morning that my 11 year old son (who gives her breakfast) has been giving her an extra scoop by mistake... that explains the noticable fat I've seen building up on her shoulders, but couldn't figure out why.

I am starting to think she is part elephant.

seer and I looked at her this morning and confirmed that she is indeed pregnant. And indeed not an elephant!

But she's not done cookin' it yet. Maybe 2 or 3 weeks yet? Just a guesstimate. The Duck can get off her pins and needles for a bit yet. She needs the rest!

Take a hot bath, drink some wine and read a good book and take a break.
You deserve it.

No baby... Though she's been more picky in eating, and looking far more uncomfortable in the evening. But with seer's opinion, I'm not as anxious.

Still watch her, just in case, since she's 11 and had many before, and we all know that some experienced mares can progress quicker than others.

I just wish I knew more about what she looks like before foaling in her prior births.

The only 'clue' I have is that she was known to weave in her stall prior to foaling. No stall here, though, just her dry lot, and she tends to pace it in the evenings.

My thoughts and prayers are with you...I have been through this a time or too to say the least, when I had my rescues....Red bag rip it open and get the foal and have Colustrum paste.....not the replacer. I would put the mare of a webcam if you can.

Will your vet come out and ultrasound her, I dont agree with inducing just because of not knowing her bred date. Anything I can do to help. FYI One of my rescue mares went 404 days. I ting there is not enought information on fescue toxcitiy and I wish there was so much danger to the baby....I always take my mares off of fescue 6 months to estimated foaling date and feed them Broam hay...

Crossing my fingers for heatlhy foal

3 or 3 weeks , holy, bologna, it does not seem she can go another 3 or 4 more hours....but , who knows.....I hope we have baby's soon....
My thoughts on the paste(happyhorsehavenfarms) if its 8.00 its not worth it the time feed it or, money...The better quality you are getting, of course is going to be more pricy, But isn't it worth it..Ive used both, IgG , IMO...is the best for any foal...I spend upwards of 90.00 for 300ml. sometimes I can get it for 50.00 depending on where I go, I always have in fridge on hand , during foaling season... hope she has baby soon,,,,,Im so inpatient

No baby... and "mom" (aka "the cow") is currently hoovering her breakfast while my kids are out cleaning her pen.

Which, by the way, in less than 10 hours since its last cleaning, has accumulated 13 large piles of firm dung.

Wow, but as long as both are healthy we can wait. You might not be able too, but we can.

Well the baby is still kicking in there, so I always take that as a good sign.

Yep...should baby get quiet for 36 hours I would suspect that the foaling hour will steadily be approaching!!!! Still thinking filly, happy, healthy Momma and baby thoughts.

What if I buy her a really big girdle to stop the kicking... would it come out then?

(And if she's making mounds of manure more than once an hour all the way around the clock, does that mean she's just pooping for two, or does it just mean she really is a cow? )
