I've been stepped on by full grown horses countless times... Had them stand on my foot and lean, too. But, I've never had one nail my foot the way he did.

Who would have thought a 2 week old foal could find a way to leap all four off the ground, and come down in a stomp, with all his might in one foot, to leave a purpling welt on the top of my foot almost immediately? And it's not like I was out there in vulnerable shoes like sandals or cheap tennis shoes... these were leather and thick rubber. Just happened to hit it squarely on the joint at the base of the big toe, so regardless of the shoe I wear now, I'm reminded all too well of the incident with every step I take.

He's also learned how to fire off that hind in lightning manner, with no warning at all, and nail what he's aiming for. He had a crossbrace on our fence vibrating with a solid 'thwack!' earlier, just because the water had bounced off the hock, and a tiny stream got his mandanglie wet.

He's going to give my mustang mare a serious run for the money in a kicking match one day. I thought that no one had faster feet than hers. At least with hers I have a chance to see them go back to the ground... his are fired and back down before you realize what happened.

The description of his antics reminds me a little of my son. Boys!

Hope everyone is all better soon. I once dropped a jar on that exact spot at the base of the big toe, and it's crazy how that spot HURTS!

*knocking on wood*
Toby appears to be healing up nicely.

He also has decided he's a hunter/jumper.

Two nights ago, on the way out to change his wrap.... he performed the prettiest lazy canter, did a flying lead change, kicked it into full speed, tucked up just as pretty as you could dream of, and tried to leap the electric.... Only to land in the middle of the strands. And had a look of complete confusion on his face, as if he was trying to question his calculations and where he went wrong.

Thankfully, the small stretch of electric fence is mostly plastic step in posts and electric tape, so he can't spear himself on the posts, and the strands will break if he gets into trouble. It's just a temporary pen that was supposed to keep him from bombing around on that leg. (note, sarcastic laugh.)

I was actually thinking of hands on work, but if meditation works, go for it...

Maybe we could teach the horses to "channel" that way...if you do, though, I definitely want to see pics...

Sounds like you ALREADY have your hands full! He was giving you trouble even before he was born!

Healing thoughts and prayers for him, though, hate to hear of poor little Pygmy being hurt...
