Question *update* on This is b.s advice needed

moderators please move this if this is not in the right spot. almost a year ago i had wrote in under a place to vent about when i sent my mares off to be bred and they came back with a virus.
so i just wanted to let the ones that had replied and read the thread that we have a court date for the end of march. so fingers crossed, but i also need advice from fellow ht'ers. i recieved a phone call yesterday from texas i am in ohio from a court show wanting to air our case on tv. now granted the other party has to also agree and i havent made any yes's yet. they would pay our air fare round trip, hotel and food exepense. the next day tape the show. they would also to this for the other lady. now if we lose we lose, no money lost or gained persay. if she loses then they will pay her fines or what we are asking for in consideration for her time, so i guess im not sure what to do?
do i 1) say ok, have it exposed on national tv, but either way she is not out of pocket or 2) no no thaks and tryit here at our court and if we win she pays out of pocket?

please help!!!

Just have to ask is it Judge Alex??? Personally the coverage wouldn't bother me --but what's the lessoned learned for her if someone else pays the bill??
NOTHING!! I'd stay in OH and make her pay the costs. JMO let us know what you decide to do.

I would say if she is a big time breeder that the exposure could be more damaging to her than the couple hundred/thousand out of her pocket. I think it depends on how bad you want to be on tv

yes it is judge alex. i am never home during the day so i really never even heard of him, mainly watch judge judy. but that is what i am torn between, it would be national exposure so lots of people would hear about it, but yes what lesson does she learn?

she is a small breeder so that wouldnt really damage her, but she has vet creditentals (sp) so that could hurt, i personally dont really want to be on tv and possibly making an a** out of myself, exposure would be nice to let more people know about this virus and more aware, than we would ever get in our local courts. but if she goes its a win win for her either way.

Ok but what are the chances that the people who do watch his show are peo ple that would be doing business with her??? Kind of slim that the people likely to be affected would actually be watching. I say she needs to pay-- word of mouth can be just as damaging in a particular area.

Interesting, and I'm not sure, so didn't vote. The only thing that I was wondering, if you win in Ohio, you'll be relying on her to actually pay up, yes? I know to my cost that winning the case isn't the same as getting the money

Now if you go to Texas, and you win, you're going to get your money. I suppose it depends what is important to you, compensation for you, or punishment for her.

Mind you if she loses in Texas, might not cost her financially, but a lot of people will know about it.

It would depend on the judge for me. I would have it aired, that way people would know all about her. I remember your story and she needs to be outed.

interesting i never thought about it that way if we did win if we would even get the money. like you said 95 at least we would get the money, and her horses wouldnt suffer, because honestly i feel thats who would suffer the most whether we stay inour court or go national.im not sure that she is finacially stable, i mean who is. i know she has trouble getting hay every year for winter, but who doesnt.

short kid- hi, sorry it took so long to update everybody, was trying to get all of our facts together before we went to court. i would paste a link to the actually thread but im not sure how or if im allowed.

hmm. Judge judy was going to pay $5000 no matter what the outcome. Like whoever wins wins the money and the leftover is split between parties. Judge Alex is weakkkkk lol.

Sounds like a fun free vacation I don't know what the max award is ,but it sounds like you have a Vets proof and can document your losses. Just what a Judge wants to see.

I remember your origional post, it was terrible what happened to your mares. With those pictures you have- it will be hard for the breeder to defend why she didn't notice all those sores.

She may say no to TV, if she has some way to defend against your Vets records. She may say yes aswell, to have a vacation and get her judgement paid.

Standing on TV and winning could reachout and educate thousands of mare owners about this issue. A lot of people love those shows and her name and town is said. Shows are taped in advance so you will have time to post the showing date....everyone in your town horse person or not will see you on TV and they will learn about that 'breeder' aswell.

In a regular court the issue/judgement is important or noticed by only a few people.

Sounds like an exiciting vacation and so cool they pay for everyone.

I won a judgement against a gal in CA for a dog loss..I won but I never got a dime from the judgement against her.
Winning does not mean you will recive the money.
I would go on TV..
