Mystery Baby! Anyone else expecting one?

My sister purchased a mare last year...turns out she is INFOAL...NO idea WHEN she will foal, looks like she could POP any day! lol This will be our 'Mystery' baby! hehe

She is a APHA mare, we didn't get her papers.... She has 2 BLUE eyes!!

Personally..I would THINK it would be absolutely awesome...if the baby was a MULE..with BLUE eyes! haha

Nope nothing here. But you will have to post the foal when he/she is born.

We've got one. The little Welsh cross mare we were given is very definitely in foal. We were told that she was bred to a Black and White Welsh cross last April or May. So we will soon be on pins and needles.

I cannot get any info on her, owners will not say. She was bred BEFORE we bought her though. Our boys have never been out (knock on wood), they are in their own paddocks, so cannot even be a OOPS on our part.

My "gift filly" will be three in May. She was turned out with a little palomino colt who will turn two in May. I didn't realize he hadn't been cut until my friend who gave me the filly happened to mention that he had the little guy gelded last month.

The cowboy who is riding the filly for me asked me if she was in foal. He says she hasn't shown any signs of coming into heat in the time he's had her. (Since before Christmas). Could be winter anestrus. But she sure is getting big in the belly. Oh well, I've always wanted a palomino Appaloosa!

We MIGHT have another mare...NOT sure....we have a Welsh we bought a couple months ago....and she is either FAT or prego....she was all her life with the breeder, then apparently wanted to downsize....so another lady bought her to rehome her. She is now here.

At least she would be infoal to a Welsh. lol

You have a GOOD way of looking at the situation! I am the same way. If she has a baby, she does, if she doesnt, she doesn't. We wanted the mare, and if she is a package deal, they will both be loved. hehe

Congrats on the upcoming foal(s)

I don't have any unexpected, but we had a mini that was an anytime after Feb.... She was not bagged up, but had a filly at her side come breakfast one day Surprise surprise! Figured she would have one, just didn't know when and I was , but mom got in the milk fine and all was well...course even when you know the due date, I have found the babies can't read a calendar They come when they come!

I can't wait to see some baby pics

Happy and safe foaling

That mare is stunning!

I had a surprise baby last year. I knew my mare was pregnant when I bought her (vet check), but nobody said what she was bred to, it was like a big secret. I was shocked to go out one morning and find my chetnut QH standing over a very loud paint colt!

We might be, but still aren't sure yet! Hard to tell, as we just got the mare in the early fall, and she was out of shape, plus has had a couple of foals, and is a draft/QH cross, so we're finding it pretty hard to tell one way or the other! She was out to pasture with a bunch of reg. QH broodmares, so the stud would've been a reg. QH, but since we were assured she wasn't bred, we didn't get too many details on him. She's rounder than any of our other mares, and is getting a little full looking in the flanks, so we'll see I guess

Hi,

My friend (lives about 10 mins from here) has 2 mares due. 1 is a Welsh Cross Mare....bred to a Paint....which the only 'mystery' to that is....WHEN she was bred. She is a dainty mare, and not really showing, however hasn't come back into season since she has owned her. She had a GORGEOUS Coloured filly last year by the same stallion.

Her 2nd mare is a Welsh/Arab Mare......NO idea what she is bred to, or WHEN. but is starting to show?? or we think. haha. She might have us fooled. She is also a dainty mare, so makes it difficult...could hide the baby well.

I will try and get pics to post of them for everyone.

Its a shame, my sister has been digging around, but hasn't come up with anything, and I think she has given up and just accepted that she will not get papers on her now. Either way....she thinks the world of the mare, she is sooo easy to handle, her hubby takes her on trail rides and the mare isn't spooky and just likes taking her time. Very nice mare.
