This is only for horses up to 2 years olds for sale at that particular time. Im not comparing 1 and 2 year olds. I have to do the same research at the same time next year to see what im looking for. There are many people that don't register yearlings they will sell them unregistered and allow the new owner to register and name them. This is a very popular website dedicated to selling horses I don't wish to name the site at this time. There are many variables in this as well but its just for my own information.

I have a question and afraid will be thought dumb , but going to ask anyway. Everyone that has these high priced breeding ranches like racing, cutting, reining and so forth. They breed all these horses for that purpose and the ones that don't meet there expectations. I am sure they dont register them and what is done with them? They find good homes for them??? And the ones that have invitro and surrogete moms so they can have more babies by the sires? Are they all registered and where do they all go to? I seen a segment on RFD-tv with Chris Cox on it a while back , he showed how it was done.

An early check reveals a decline. 08 yearling paints in US 819. O9 yearling paints 667 in US so almost a 20% decline in foals. There is a 22% drop in listed quarter horse foals. Upon checking the numbers the foals are alot nicer looking and there are way more buckskins, palominos, duns, blacks and fewer sorrels and chestnuts.

Ooooo, does that mean a nice sorrel may be a rarity in the future? I remember the days when people wanted a sorrel with stockings to show....now all they want are colored horses.

Really though, I'm anxious to hear the numbers from this year's crop. Also, I have to wonder if because the market is so crappy, that folks aren't advertising as much and could give you false number. Especially on their "lower priced" sorrels. Let's face it - show a picture of a cute buckskin colt and then show a picture of a sorrel colt - which one will draw more lookers?

Its free to post a non photo add. This study has many variables and isnt going to be exact its just something im looking at for my own curriosity and research. I just wish I had gotten the total US foal numbers for 08 I only took a few breeds for that one for some reason.
