Prayers Needed

I am in desperate needed to find another place for our herd of 5 rescues. We've been at our current location for almost 2 years and the owners (who lived in Brussels and are now in Miami) have reneged on their end of our bargain to maintain the property. My husband and I have waited for almost two years for them to have someone come out and fix the barn so it's usable for the herd, but it appears that it never going to happen.

We were told that the place was fully fenced when we rented it (it was -- about 100 years ago and there are hundreds of downed fence posts and tangles of barbed wire for as far as you can see) and that it had PLENTY of water from 2 creeks on the property (both of which run at a trickle after a good rain). My husband and I have compensated by putting up our own fencing and supplying water to the herd with the help of some wonderful neighbors who share the same property.

Now for the kicker: 3 weeks ago, I took a bad fall while watering the herd. spent the better part of the day in the ER with a possible broken neck. Turns out it wasn't broken and I'm thankful, but I really need to move the herd -- especially with winter right around the corner. I simply cannot afford another concussion.

Yesterday, my wonderful farrier and dear friend, Jay, called and said he's got a bead on 20 fenced acres with a pond, stream, and an 8-stall barn. If he gets it, he said he's taking my herd with him! This would be a wonderful answer to my dilemma as my property owner is now trying to find ways to evict my herd from her crappy place.

I'm asking my HT family to please hold a good thought for us. My herd deserves so much more than what this place has to offer. We've been looking everywhere for a place (we only need some pasture for one year until we move) and have been unsuccessful finding anything.

If you have any spare prayers just lying around, we sure could use them. We should know by this weekend if it's a go or not, so I'll be sure to share the (hopefully great) news with everyone on Tuesday.

Thanks for your prayers.

Always have enough prayers for an HTer in need, enough and more than enough. Yours were being sent just before you asked

Do you see what I seeeeee....

From humble beginnings

Of course there are always lots of helpers around

Gotta do some takin' before you get the gettin'

Its 20ft deep and 48ft long, 10ft tall on the open south side and maybe 16ft all at the back. The steel is a kind of almond color and all edges covered up. Range, I remember and I keep telling them NO EXPOSED STEEL EDGES. The inside will have a kind of cement board over all exposed wood as we have a confirmed cribber on our hands. Even if we didn't, no reason to take a chance. There is talk of a tack shed too... And trust me There Will Be But at least some of the "crappies" will get removed and I'm happy about that Ahh yes, that is indeed worth a flower face

Thanks, everyone, for your kindness.

I have the best farrier around. He's more than just a farrier -- he's become a wonderful friend to our entire family.

Get this: he called me yesterday, not only to tell me about "us" possibly getting the 20 acres, but to see how our daughter's first week at Tech went as well! He also wanted to let me know that seeing as how most of my nights are on my own (with our last child in college and my husband working out of town during the week) he told me to call him and his wife in the event I need anything or any help during the week.

He truly is a gem and I'm so very grateful to have him and his wife in our lives.

Please keep those prayers coming and I'll update everyone on Tuesday.

God Bless.
