Can anyone give me any info on the equine industry in NC?

I am possibly moving to NC in 3 years and would like to start researching now. I am an instructor/trainer in Upstate NY, and would like to continue this career in NC. We are considering Pitt County and areas outside of Raleigh and Greenville.
Can anyone give me any info on what disciplines are popular in these areas? And pricing of lessons, training, boarding..etc?
THANK YOU!!!

I used to live in the Carolinas and eventing is HUGE. We all participated on some level because horse trials were so plentiful. The terrain is perfect for this sport, so is the weather.

Well that sounds great. Combined training is one of the disciplines that I have competed in and teach, so this will be very valuable.
Thank you very much for the info!

You need to stay in the Raleigh area. Greenville is a very nice place to live but for the horse person it has very little to offer. Raleigh is a more expensive place to live but has way more to offer.
