Fly Control

We are having a huge party this weekend and the flies are totally obnoxious this year. Does anybody know of anything I could spray on the yard to kill the flies or possibliy fog the yard with? Obviously it has to be horse, dog, cat, chicken and people safe Short of everybody carrying their own citronella candle around, I'm not sure what to do. Anybody???

There's a product called Dairy Bomb and it's an aerosol fly spray for premises. It works really well for us. Only lasts a few hours, but it should be enough to get through your party.

I have used a product called Mosquito Halt. It's a granulated moth ball type product. It comes in a gallon size and has a shaker top. It works for both flies and mosquitoes! Down side is it smells like moth balls.

I use fly preditors. They work great and have hardly any flys but will not help you at this point. Dairy bomb dose work very well for a short time. There are fogers that work well for Sketters too but you need to do it early evening when they are coming out and have little to no wind. Again probably will not help now as it is a building thing just like the preditors. But do not use both togather as the foger kills the preditors.

How manycans do you use? and what is the cost of this product? We have a party every month and the skeeters do get out of control....

BarnBum turned me on to Quik Strike. It's sold at TSC, and can be ordered thru Country Supply. It works!! I put it in my barn, and 2 hours later, it had gone from 100% flies to maybe 10%. It's a GREAT product, and you can put the little stations about 150 ft apart. NO FLIES!!
You might try that, and good luck for your party. Redboy

I think a can is about $12...
And a can lasts quite a while... I go through like 8 cans a year - spraying a 40' x 200' barn... each stall, and each room in it..

If you can find it, use a product called "Tempo SC Ultra Premisis Spray." It's a little pricey, but it works, and a little bit goes a very long ways. And it's safe for people, pets, children, and even to have the food around after spraying (it's approved for use in dairys and resturants). It'll get the flies, mosquitos, fleas, spiders, anything creepy crawly. It's the consumer product version of what they use agriculturally on crops. It's works fantastic and quickly (within hours) and lasts quite a while (days or even weeks).

I forgot! It doesn't have an odor at all! You can even spray it in your house! And it works on those pesky bag worms in trees too, though it's too late in the year for that now.
