Fencing Ideas from Switzerland

We just returned from a family vacation in Switzerland where we were doing lots of hiking on their wonderful trail system. I can't resist sharing a couple of shots of the Swiss way of electric fencing! THe first photo gives you an indication of where we are hikiing....

...in the hills where they have ski runs in the winter. Farms and chalets dot the hillside where the skiing is and the hiking trails also run through this area.

Now take a close look at what they utilize for electric fence posts:

CLOSE UP:

Can you see the ski poles? They must pick up the ones dropped and lost in the winter and utilize them when they are setting up the fencing in the spring.

What a novel idea. LOL. Think of the money they save not having to buy any posts.

Wow-no kidding you were on vacation---gorgeous pictures.
The people who I board my horses at are from Switzerland...keep threatening Esther that I am going with her this winter when she goes home.

Unique fencing too.

That's too funny!

Switzerland is such a beautiful country. My bf and I were going thru old pictures last Sunday of when he lived in Switzerland while his parents were in the Marine Corps. Very neat indeed!

Skiing the Swiss Alps is on my bucket list - GORGEOUS scenery! I'm green over here!

Clever fencing idea too.

Great idea! Brings to mind our Canadian popular sport of hockey. Wouldn't hockey sticks be great to use when the blades are broken. They are not only top quality wood they're reinforced with fiberglass. Hmmm, I think I shall put my name in at the local arena.

My husband's family is from Switzerland so we have the pleasure of going there for visits every few years. Wouldn't you know though that with all of our Swiss relatives, none of them really ski and nor do they enjoy hiking. We always end up going in the summer because that's when our kids are off school and they have a big family reunion/party every few summers.
