Is there a non-toxic way to kill the weeds?

OK...me again I don't think I can run out of things to ask! In my barn lot are those HIGH awful 'horse weeds' and other nasty things growing! I guess I 'll have to start attacking them with woman power since a brush hog couldn't get in the gate even if I had one. I don't have a riding mower either...
Is there anything I can get and put on them that will KILL the weeds and NOT the horses????

If you have a Tractor Supply...thats where we get it anyway....we use Pasture Pro...it kills the weeds in about 24 hours and you can leave the horses out in the pasture...

or if you don't have it I would suggest going to any "farm" store and asking what is used in your area that works best...
good luck...I missed a bunch of thistle...and they've gone to seed...I'm gonna be spraying double this fall and spring....

weeds

I will NOT use any chemicials around any livestock...so for the weeds we use a combinatin of, Goats(they eat everything from pepperhedge to P Ivy) sheep will tear out the entire plant root and all, and 2 cows. I actually borrow the sheep from a guy who raises them. I use the horse manure for my very large veg garden, so I do not want any chemicials passing into my septic veggies.

I realize to some this may sound silly, however some vineyards in Napa valley are using goats now in weeding.

There are many herbicides safe for horses (some even say you can graze the same day you spray -- all herbicides should have posted grazing restrictions by animals -- cattle, horses, etc.). But if you don't want to use any chemicals (salt will work but it can get in the ground water if you have a lot of weeds), try a weed flame thrower. We have one. You don't have to burn the weed into oblivion - you just have to get it hot. We bought a cart for the propane tank so we didn't have to carry it (or use an ATV). I don't have to worry about killing grass or flowers now. My only concern: my husband used it to burn up a hornet's nest (he has great fun doing this) and my azaleas got a little scorched.

Me again! I went to TSC and got the Pasture Pro...I think I've done the entire lot with only one quart since it's so highly concentrated. The weeds are already drooping this afternoon...I'd hope so...I spent over 3 back breaking hours out there!! Probably wouldn't have been so hard on me but I did have surgery a few weeks ago and I'm not up to snuff yet...
SO...lets say I 'worked on my tan for 3 hours today'

I hope it works for you!! My friend came out and mowed down the thistles and burrs that got away from me....mainly cuz his pasture is next to mine and didn't want the seeds coming his way!!
