What facilities do you have OR wish you had for keeping your horses?

Hey everyone! I thought perhaps we could share our horsekeeping facilities or lack thereof with one another.

I keep my horse at home in a barn lot. The barn is in ill repair so it's only for some shade/shelter. The fencing isn't great but adequate for now. Only grass I have is my huge yard which I electric fenced and move around so he can eat it all!
If I could have what I felt I needed here...it's a rental... I'd have the barn roof repaired since there are stalls that could be used...I'd fence the entire yard/lot area in sections and add a roundpen and small arena to work in...never hurts to dream.
I am able to keep my horse (soon to add one) healthy and happy but don't like the 'place' I have available
Thanks for sharing!
God Bless

We have a very limited turnout, only in dry lot, so that is what I would definitely change. Our barn is pretty nice, and the fencing is in good shape, and the riding facilities are wonderful, we board across the street from an equestrian park and they have several rings, trails, a covered arena, and everything is kept up really nice. The lack of pasture is the only drawback.

I want a big covered arena to ride in.. and stripping chutes so we can rope again... also, a nice covered wash rack with heated water..

Heck, if I am going to dream, I am dreaming big..

My barn is fine - we rarely use the stalls, but have them if needed; I have good pasture; I have individual paddocks with shelter, if needed; I have a good roundpen.

What I don't have, and would dearly love, is sand. Our dirt is nasty black clay. I would love to have a sand arena and sand in my roundpen.

I board my horse at this time, but my perfect dream is not really a big dream. Would be a 2 stall barn with a wash rack (inside) with hot and cold water, feed room/ tack room. Arena with good footing and lights. And a real nice turnout with lush green grass. Oh the barn would have to have a fly system and large fans.
Maybe some day.

Oh don't even get me started right now!
LOL we are in the process (first house then barn) of renovating the barn and farm area over to horses!
First we have to make our barn livable for the horses (6 stalls, feedroom, tackroom & water) if I was to push it heat and hot water would be nice but I won't push it right now.
I also need to fence a ton of area for the horses for more grazing.
A round pen is a must.

I would love to have an arena with sand footing. A indoor arena is on my long term goals, and then an addition onto the barn.

I have plenty of pasture and sand base round pen, but would love a more practical barn setup. also an arena, covered would be nice but not enclosed. Also want to get rid of my drat barbwire fencing. Built my own washrack/stocks and it suits me fine. It is all functional but not as pretty as I'd like

I would love to just move North !! Florida just doesn't have the large property spans like you guys do or the lush wonderful grass (our soil stinks!!) I envy that !!!

I love my barn, property (2.5 acres) fencing, etc..... just wish I had more space / property to utuilze. Thats the only thing I would change...more space (which means more horses!!)

Right now, what I have is perfect for my gelding and my mini and what I do with them.

I live at a rental property that is on 2 1/2 acres, I wish the fences were wood instead of barbed wire, and that the run-in shed were 1. larger and 2. were more like a stall without a gate so that my girls can get out of the heat and rain here in FL. A nice wash rack would be good, plus a round pen (well may be I don't really need one of those since the 29000 acres of trails are about 3 blocks away from my house) And most of all I would prefer it belonged to me instead of renting it.

Well we just got concrete, our barn is only 2.5 years old...
We have pasture with grass for most of the year
our fences are nice and safe
Roundpen is a decent size (60 ft)

But.... We are in the process of getting an arena we have all the fencing (3 rail pvc) but I still need to find money for sand lol...

We don't have hot water (yet) nor do we have an enclosed tack room (yet) but we have most of the stuff for it, we just have to put it up lol. So there isn't much more I could want. Other than maybe one of those 42 inch fans and maybe some 3-rail fencing on the outside of our fencing for costmetic reasons.

Oh, and maybe a bigger barn?? for more horses =). It's 5 stalls on one side, the other has two wash/groom stalls, tack room, and feed/shavings/hay. Plus a lean-to off each side where we store hay, tractors 4-wheelers, lawn mowers, etc.

Yep, pretty happy with things, but could always want more =).

OHH while I am rambling, you know what would be nice???? A part-time stall cleaner lol.

I have 10 acres fenced in five separate paddocks. I have excellent pasture on 4 on them. The front lot is almost a dirt lot which I bring the horses onto at night. They're on pasture 12 hrs a day and I can also use the front lot for fatties or new horses that come in to introduce them to the pasture. We have about 600 acres available to us to ride on adjacent to our farm. One is a Christmas tree farm with sandy or grassy paths in between the rows of trees. Very nice. We have a soon to be 7 stall, two story barn and a smaller two story barn that I store hay in.
I wish I had an arena. Indoor would be ideal and an inside wash rack. Other than that, I feel lucky to have what I have.

right now 12 acres and a small barn though I rarely use the stalls. Decent grass getting better as I had a jungle to tame. I do have a round pen but no arena just a somewhat flat spot with only a few big holes. We are improving this property and it's just a stepping stone. Some day 200+ acres of lush pasture, ponds, creeks, a huge barn with individual paddocks. A jumping sized indoor arena, several outdoor rings and dressage rings, a full cross country course, you know just the basics.

Realistically I would be happy to get our shelter (three sided shelter) built along w/ paddocks and install the waterer before winter sets in. I'd also like to get my riding area done -- I had an arena area picked out, disked it up, to begin making it an arena and then we rearranged things, so that area will now be paddocks and the arena area is shifted some....

Dreaming: I would like to build an indoor.

I have 10 acres plus 8 additional acres leased directly behind my property. I have a 60ft round pen, large arena (250' X 200') Plus 7 20' x 30' paddocks, 1 stallion paddock with a run in that is 60' x 60'. I am getting ready to build another one. the rest of the property is pasture.

I don't have a barn yet.. still working on that. it will have a wash rack and tack room with heat and water. haven't figured out how many stalls I want yet..

The facilities where I board are fabulous, indoor and outdoor arenas, wash rack, trails, heated barn and tackroom etc
What I miss is large pasture turnout, room to run and graze. We have turnout but they are dirt paddocks.
I really wish it was closer, but I'll keep driving 25 mins to keep the boy happy!
