Run In Shelter Experiences...

Hi everyone!

Just wanted to get your good and bad experiences/suggestions with Run-In shelters. We're getting ready to build some and thought you good folks could give us tips and warnings.

Thanks...I absolutely LOVE this forum!! Thanks to DiamondY for introducing me!

Amy

We have one. We like ours. It's great for when they are out to pasture and they use it to get out of the rain and snow. I didn't think they would use it, but they do. They stand in there until the weather lets up and then they come out, so i think they appreciate it.

Yes,it would be nice to get some pics,we are also thinking about putting one in pasture. Where my granddaughter takes lessons they have a couple in fields so horses can go in whenever they want to go inside. She also has big barn with stalls, arena, tack rooms, etc.,but stalls are used only for those who want their horses stalled.

My husband built both of ours. We feed the horses in them and they kept them clean. We had one that we called Sugar's house because only if the horses were in her good graces were they allowed to go into it.

Bob built ours about 4 years ago for about 800 a piece. Last time I went by the place they were still in condition.

We built a 14X20 run in. We put a divider in the middle so there are 2 10X14 stalls and 10 foot gates on the front. the gates are usually open, but if they need to be stalled they have one....and you still have the healthy outside benefits of the run-in!

I don't have any plans or pictures on the computer. I don't have a scanner. He went looked at the portable sheds and to the idea from there.

The sheds were built for two horses. That is what we had in our drylots most of the time. I'll get more info from him at home tonight.
