Manure Pickup.

I don't know if this is the right place. But anywho, I was wondering if any of you pickup the manure in the paddocks? And also use it as fertilizer?
If you do, how to accomplish it?

Yes I pick my manure up weekly. It hepls keep my horses grazing better in the pasture. No I don't use it for fertilizer. I buy fertilizer.

I do pick it up in the small areas, but not in the pastures. It all goes in the manure pile with the stall discards to compost for a year or more. By then it is black gold and I do fertilize with it. Take care to compost it well, though, or it will reseed your flower beds.

I clean Jazzy's 3 acre pasture twice a week, which only means going around with my shovel and wheel barrow and then disgarding it! And her stall in the barn where she goes at night gets cleaned out every morning!

For the pasture, the small, square shovel works awesome! In the stall, my fork is used because of the straw!

manure

Yes, with a shovel and a wheelbarrow, every so often. It does go on my garden in the fall.

We clean our corrals daily. We compost the manure in a large pile which we cover with a tarrp to keep the correct moisture content. Then we use it on our vegetable garden. In the pastures we drag with a harrow a few times a year.
