From one Pig Barn To Another!

North Carolina here we come, Shelby is the target and we are setting the plans in motion for the big move!

Today hubby went and looked at a 40 acre property outside Shelby that was used as a Pig farm up until 20 years ago. The barn is still standing and needs a lot of interior work. (The pig pens are still in there, but the roof and walls are in good shape). The feilds are not fenced but have used as hay pasture for the last 20 years as well. They have been limed and fertilized consistantly and the bahia, bluegrass, orchard, clover mix reaches up past your waist. The barn is concrete and has power and water run to it. There is an excellent homesite about 200 yards from the barn.

I think it is funny that the farm we lease now is a 40 acre farm that up until 20 years ago was a pig farm. The largest barn was gutted and 26 stalls where built and the pasture fenced about 15 years ago. The problem is that the pastures are very hilly and rocky. The owners of the place will not spend any money on fertilizing the fields or upgrading the fence. It is really hard to put a lot of money into that kind of stuff when you do not and will not ever own it!

The new property would be only 12 minutes from a TSC and there is so much horse stuff going on in that area. I am really excited this might just be wonderful!

Sounds like a beautiful place! I can empathize with the rocky fields, it is an endless battle here, too. One that I often lose!

Heck, at this rate, a barn is a barn! This way, you can remodel it into your own! Just how you want it.

Good luck on your move! Seems that we all have a little gypsy in us!

New adventures - I want one!

*squish squish*

There, I have squished my internal gypsy for the time being. Best of luck on getting the hog farm of your dreams, eieio!

Looks like August. The guy is trying to decide whether he wants to lease with an option or straight lease. If there is an option we are in, if not we will keep looking. Finding the right spot, within the budget is tough. I do not want go right back to work after the move. I need some rest and time with my poines. Maybe even write the book So, I am trying to find the cheapest way to keep the twelve who are going. I am trying to live off hubby for a while!
