temporary electric fencing

As a result of the drought, our fields have no grass! Not enough rain to get more to grow, either. So, we have various areas that are full of grass and want to put the horses in them in rotation. We're looking for simple, cheap (main thing), temporary fencing ideas. We'd thought about electric tape, but what to mount it to? Heck, if I could guarantee they wouldn't wander to the neighbor's place, out to the road, or get tangled in the old barbed wire that surrounds the place...I'd just let them go!

Ideas surely would be appreciated!

You can buy step in poles that have the adapter slots built right in. They are then very easy to move when you want to expand your pasture.

As Divine stated, they are great. We have a pen up for one of our mustangs.

The only thing you will need to do is put corner post down with insulators on them. We found out that useing the step in post's dont work as corner post and they pull over.

We also have a battery powered hot box and an extra battery. Had to buy the charger for the batteries.

I ordered all of my stuff from Jeffers.
Everything. You can get it all at Tractor Supply. So far that is the only place I have found that carries them. The only size this one here has is 4 ft. If you think they will stay in that, then 4 ft. will work.
I ordered 30 5 ft. and 30 4 ft.

We use the step in posts alot for rotating pastures. We use the tape because it's more visible than wire. Our local feed store has them. Premier fence has a big selection if you don't have a local source.

Our TSC here was able to special order the 5 footers for us a couple of years back. Needless to say, though, they don't make good permanent fencing posts!

I just used fiberglass poles, my farm store carries them in 4-7' lengths. Bought a bag of screw on insulators and a role of wire and it cost me $35 to fence in my yard plus I have plenty to take with camping. I didn't need a fencer because I hooked it up to my main fence and for camping I don't leave them unattended so they will respect the wire tape while they are in there.
