Looks interesting, but I'd be really curious about the pricing. It's sort of along the lines of prefab homes, and the reason those never caught on the way designers thought they would is because it just became too cost-prohibitive.
Their website also just does not give enough info ie/what is the roof really made of, interior design, wind resistance, etc.

I read on their literature, 'somewhere', the starting price is around $7000.
I'm sure the 'end' price is considerably more.

Also the roof(s) appear to be built much like those
'Clear Span' horse, farm, indoor arena buildings.
And the walls appear to be built like 'modular' stalls.
Metal frames with boards that slide in.

I actually think the concept is pretty cool.
I'm not sure about the sturdiness in extreme conditions though (then again, I'm not sure of the sturdiness of ANYTHING in extreme conditions)!!

As to your comments on 'pre fab' (modular) homes, in reality, today, much housing is 'prefab'.
I may not be exactly understanding your comment,
but that is what many, many, of these last 8 years of 'mass' production housing has been all about.
Housing companies come in (Ryans Homes, CenTex Homes), and build 50 houses in a 'new' development (last year's corn field),
factory 'mass build' walls/sections, truck in the 'sections', and put them together on the foundations.
And the 'sub out' the 'finish' work.
Then you go into these developments and 'pick' the particular 'model' that addresses your housing needs.
But, again, maybe I don't understand your concept of prefab housing?

In Ontario, we have a dealer for this business:

http://www.barns2go.com/

The website is more immediately informative, give you a chance to compare. I'm not sure how widespread the dealership is.

Fabric covered makes me wonder about the strength, especially if you live in a hurricane or nor'easter prone area. Also how much "flapping" does this fabric do? My little scardy cat horses would probably freak if the roof started moving . Shipping costs would be another thing to consider. Interesting concept, wouldn't mind knowing more.

Thats pretty cool a "Barn in a Box". I wouldn't trust the tarp to last through to many years of sun, rain and wind. even good tarps here, seem to wear hard after a year or 2.

When I was looking for barns, stalls and such I came across this website. and the coolest thing is they delivered and dumped off a ready built shelter, barn-row right onto your waiting foundation.

I didn't get one of these barns but these were the guys who were most helpfull in recomending crushed limestone(packed) as a foundation.

here's the website- http://www.horizonstructures.com/index.asp

heres a youtube someone made of the amish guys dropping off a familys shed, shows how they transport and offload built things. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5IJ-w-3vDqc

edited to add, that barn2go site looks so cool. amazing how far they have come on quality. see the 6 stall for 4k includes shipping! thats not a bad price at all!

They look to be basically a glorified Coverall/Megadome. I really like them, and since it's very similar to a coverall it probably is pretty sturdy.

She's in Tweed and has a warehouse in the US, I bought jump cup strips from her LOL a few months ago. She brings up from the US as ordered so my assumption would be that if you were American and ordered, you would simply pick-up in the US at the warehouse...

Its not tarp, it's a fabric... very versatile buildings and they are everywhere in Ontario as indoor arenas. Larwood should know of Camelstone Stables in Madoc who has an indoor that is a coverall, not a gambrel roof like that barn but the same idea.

They should be similar to these buildings, commonly seen in Ontario at least as riding arenas and barns..

http://www.megadomebuildings.com/pro...icultural.html

There are other companies like Cover-all that make these.

I love Cover Alls My friend just put one up last year, and it is wondrous to ride in. None of my horses were very concerned after just a few minutes. They would have been much more jumpy in a regular indoor.

My only beef with coveralls and megadomes is when it rains oh man you can't hear a thing! Atleast with a regular steel roofed arena you can insulate to minimize the noise.

I have seen a barn in a box. very cool. It is well put together and there is no flapping. It is a thick fabric roof, stretched tight. It lets in decent light.

The one I saw had no windows. not sure if that is an option or not. ventilation on the basic model may be an issue.

They have been proven to stand up to strong winds and hail. Snow slides right off.

I think it is a great idea for a light use barn.

i think they are kindof neat. the fabric roof, if its made like the coveral buildings is realy strong. i think coverall started in saskatoon and i drive past it every day. we dont have huriccanes here but saskatchewan gets very windy at time up to 70 kms/h at times. and they withstand heat and snow vey well. and none of them flap in the wind either, they are streched very tight. if the barn in a box has any where near the quality that coveralls do they should be good. i have seen them advertized on kijiji all the time. i have onky one horse so i would still want to build my own as it doesn' t have to be massive. that way i get exactly what i want.

Just south of Grand Rapids, here in MI, there is a barn that is a barn/indoor just like the big white one on the barns2go website. It was AWESOME for a Lynn MacKenzie clinic I went to. I would love one like it! So nice and light

In our town there is a large fabric covered storage building that houses large trucks. The roof is steep enough that our heavy snowloads slide off. As all horsepeople do, all we see is "riding arena" whenever we drive by. It has endured all types of weather and after 10 years it's still holding up well.
