What an amazing job you guys are doing. Your husband sounds great but you also deserve a big pat on the back for your hand in all this. It is going to be a beautiful barn and to think you did it yourself. Can't wait to see the finished product with the "horseies" all warm inside

Thanks for the step by step pictures. I love reading this thread. It's almost like I'm getting a barn, just by going through the steps with you.

Almost...

Thanks everyone. Yes, it is a dream come true, with a nightmare all wrapped into one!

It is a LOT of work, and this time of year where I live, the weather doesn't always cooperate. But we're racing against winter, and so we cannot afford to be waiting for sun to build. We've been out working in the cold, dark, wind, rain and sleet, and our regular lives have been pretty much put on hold for the past two months. Many days we work at our jobs all day and then come home to work on the barn until 10pm or even later sometimes. But it will all be worth it in the end, and we will have something to pass down to our children and grandchildren.

I appreciate the pat on the back Stormy's Human but honestly, all credit goes to my wonderful husband. He has put not only his brawn into this project, but his amazing design and forethought...he has thought of everything, including which side to put the stall doors on to make it easier to lead a horse in, which way to put the nails in and which side of the wood to use so that it looks as "pretty" as possible. He really is the best!

Wow! Your barn is going to be amazing! You guys have obviously been working hard, but it is definitely going to pay off in the end. I can't wait to see the next batch of photo updates.

WOW at the rate you are going, your barn is going to be finished before mine! And we started it 3 1/2 years ago

But hey, we are finally fully enclosing the tack room... although no cedar planking yet....

Some more updates:

The roof is on! (now where's that happy dance smiley?)

We had some wonderful friends come over on the weekend, and we were able with their help to get the entire roof on, including the peak, and get a lot of siding done. So here are the pics, enjoy!

This is what it looked like from the road about 1/2 way thru the day on Saturday...

Siding going on East Wall:

West Wall:

And here's the view today:

That last photo REALLY is something; so much so my jaw literally fell open.

Can ~I~ move in to your barn?!! (Oh yeah, my horses wanted to know if they could move in too)
