It's been exactly 2 weeks since I last posted pics, and a lot has happened in those two weeks!

By the end of the day on October 4, we were able to complete the end walls for the first two walls that we stood up, the one wall for the tack room that bordered a stall, and the tie-in beams that are at the top of each stall wall:

From this view you can see the doorways to the tack room and feed room, as well as the hallway going to the side door:

Then we notched, cut, nailed, etc etc....and stood up two new walls this weekend This actually proved to be more difficult than we thought, since the ground on the opposite side was extremely soft, and we almost lost the Gradall in the muck After some nail-biting moments when we weren't sure if she was comin' out anytime before next summer, hubby managed to pull another miracle out of his hat, and get it unstuck. After that, we built a makeshift bridge with some cut telephone poles that we've been saving for our fencing project (they make excellent corner posts for high-tensile fencing )

And here are some views from just before sundown today, with all four walls up:

And lastly, a view down the centre hallway, where you can see the four beams spanning two tallest inside walls:

ETA: This last pic looks like our barn is not level don't know what happened to the camera in that pic, but ... when we finally got the two interior walls connected with those beams, just for kicks hubby put the level on them to see how close he was with his measurements...DEAD ON LEVEL He is a perfectionist, which can get annoying, but it sure is nice to know it's been done right!

Silly lil filly, if my poor husband is still alive after finishing all our home/farm projects, I'll let him know you're hiring!

Thanks all for the nice words. We are so pleased that the hardest part is over. We started cutting the rafters last night, so we should be putting them up by this weekend, tin on the roof by the end of the month....so stay tuned for more updates!

Looking good! Are you keeping track of the costs? I'm sure on the labor alone you will be saving a ton. Can't wait for the next set of pictures.

Another step forward...the rafters are on!

Here's what the hallway looks like now, looking down from the double doors on the north end (another crooked picture ):

And yesterday, I started putting on siding:

We're doing 8"x1" boards tight up against each other for the siding, then following it up with 1"x4" boards to go over the "seams".

Actually, I'm petrified of the thing I'm so scared I'm gonna kill someone or shoot myself in the foot.

BUT I do feel like Ms Q Handywoman when it's in my hand...very professional I look

We picked up our metal roofing last night. The bundle that we bought weighs over 2000 lbs! It's so nice and shiney

Getting that roof on is the last of the really big hard part of the project. There are still a few more walls to frame in, but it'll go much faster than the walls and rafters. I cannot WAIT for this to be done and for us to get back to our normal life.
